Watch for These Air Conditioning Issues Before Summer Hits!
With the Texas heat drawing near, we are reliant on the comfort that air conditioning provides us with throughout the summertime. So, when there’s a problem, you’ll want to have it fixed as soon as possible. But what are the common air conditioning issues that you should watch for? Typically, they include:
- Low refrigerant (a.k.a. Freon) caused by leaks are a big problem because this is what actually cools the air that circulates throughout your home. Not only do you need a professional to refill it, but you also need them to look for and fix any leaks.
- A broken outside fan requires immediate repair because this fan is responsible for blowing the heat out of your home. Otherwise, stagnant hot air will cause the compressor to overheat, which could permanently damage your AC system. Fortunately, there’s a trip mechanism in place so that this damage usually doesn’t occur. However, you don’t want to turn your AC on again before having it checked by a professional.
- When the outside unit isn’t working, you may need some major repairs since it means that your system isn’t getting enough power. Either a simple connection problem or an improperly working thermostat (it might need a new battery) usually causes this. Sometimes you’ll need to replace your whole system.
- Faulty wiring is very dangerous and requires immediate repair because it could cause a fire. When this is the problem, your system won’t receive enough power to work correctly, or it will continually trip your home’s circuit breaker. In either case, don’t turn your AC unit on until you have it repaired.
